TAA Project : Contextual Study Sketch Journal of a Traditional Street
In this project, students are required to choose a traditional street listed on the project brief and identify the physical and non-physical contexts. Students also need to conduct a physical or virtual site visit to have a better understanding of the chosen street. There are several criteria that students should look forward, such as: religious buildings, architecture facade and styles, shophouses, market, traditional trades/ businesses, local/ traditional cuisines, historical events and social institutions.
Reflection
At the end of this project, I learned the way to study a context of a place through physical and non-physical contexts. Moreover, it also taught me to understand a unique identity and socio-cultural meaning behind a place, especially traditional places that are being forgotten by people.
