The greatest architectural transformation followed Merdeka, or Independence in 1957. Innovative construction techniques and industrialized components changed the scale of commercial buildings. Most Malaysian architecture of the modern movement are not documented thoroughly. It is important that we properly record the heritage of Malaysian architecture before it is destroyed.

An attempt to understand the influences of post-modernism on Malaysian architectural design and construction, building science and technology, and urban design. The project is to distinguish the way in which many diverse factors contribute to the development of Modern Malaysian architecture. It will involve active discussion, analysis interpretation and consultation with the tutor.

Reflection

Through a literature review and document analysis, this project allowed me to conduct a research comparative analysis process on Modern Malaysian architecture practises throughout history and present an appropriate chronological account of Malaysian architecture based on the understanding gained through the analysis procedure. Furthermore, it familiarised me with the activities of research analysis culmination and production via assemblage, chronological indices, and information assessment; composition and organisation of study; assembly of illustration and text; design layout composition. Apart from that, it assisted me in visual and critical thinking by allowing me to learn from precedents through diagramming, and it taught me the essential concepts of form, space, and order in modern Malaysian architecture.
