AD1: Project 2

In this project, students will be working with several materials to understand the nature and characteristics of these materials and how it is to be used in their design. Students are to design a structure for self-isolation and to show their personal behavior during this pandemic period. Students will explore construction details, joinery, and structural quality, and how the selected materials work together. Students are to have an imaginary north point to locate their tectonic structure, indicating the direction of sunlight. The next step is to amalgamate their design intention (choose from Project 1) with anthropometry and ergonomics to form their structure.

Final Outcome

Reflection

This project has raised awareness of anthropometry and ergonomics, as well as their relationship to form and space. Throughout this project, I learned the fundamentals of structure in general, design concepts, and architectural terminologies as they apply to spatial and form arrangement. These essential skills aided me in creating and working on a structural installation, as well as understanding material, space quality, human size, and articulation form.
